About the Show
1001 Nights, Flying Carpet’s first production, is a delightful early work of Robert Lopez (composer of the Tony Award winning musicals Avenue Q & The Book of Mormon, and the Oscar winning song “Let it Go” from Disney’s Frozen). Adapted from Arabian Nights, this piece features puppetry, comedy, and musical theatre. Originally produced in the late 1990s, 1001 Nights was recently revived with a major new production in collaboration with Atlanta’s Center for Puppetry Arts. The 2014 production featured a new design, updated music and orchestrations, and a new cast of “quadruple threats” [actor/singer/dancer/puppeteers]. The production received rave reviews, and played to sold-out houses and standing ovations. Flying Carpet Theatre is working to bring the show to New York City and venues around the country.
