In 2014, FCT initiated a solo-performance project called “Virtu-STORY-osity” that develops original autobiographical stories of performers with a virtuosic performance skill. The performers are career experts in live entertainment traditions & techniques such as European physical theater, vaudeville, live music performance, singing, clowning, puppetry, Peking opera, dance, stage magic, etc.
The series directly ties to our mission by tackling big contemporary themes through historically important performance genres and we have expanded the series since its inception. To date, this project has generated 4 solo shows to date: “Alpin Hong: Chasing Chopin”, “Andrew Nemr: Rising to the Tap”, “Shontina Vernon: Forging Ahead” and Mark Gindick: Death Defying Schtick”.
