About the Show
The 2020 US election and the months leading up to it were a high anxiety time for many, and the time was ripe for articulating political stances on social media. Based on surveys, real interviews and conversations conducted over the 2020/21 COVID Pandemic shut down, this collaboratively created theatre piece asks the audience to reckon with their social media use by experiencing in the theatre how easy it can be to be radicalized. FCT is examining the psychology behind social media addiction and the spectrum of ways that it has positively enhanced our lives and the ways it has hurt us. We hope to inspire more consciousness and mindfulness in social media use by listening to others experiences, and wrestling with what we learn. In 2021, we surveyed hundreds of social media users and non-users from all over the country. In 2022, we conducted a research trip to rural MI where we interviewed a dozen strangers about how social media impacts their lives and their community. Created by Noah Simon and Jessi D. Hill, this interactive theatre experience travels to cities and towns across the country to create conversations that inspire thoughtful social media engagement. More soon…
