The Dancing Handkerchief

About the Show

Magicians, puppeteers, and balladeers draw the whole family into a fantastical world—part Edward Gorey, part Disney’s Fantasia. Young Bastienne, apprentice to her magician father, ruins a show and is harshly disciplined. She attempts to run away, but a dancing handkerchief lures her into his father’s bag of tricks. Down the rabbit hole, Sebastian discovers a whimsical land where magic props have come alive. Will she ever return to his father? The New York Times wrote “audiences will fall under the show’s spell” when Flying Carpet Theatre workshopped the show in 1999. Our new 2017 production in collaboration with Atlanta’s Theatrical Outfit featuring Tom Key will receive its world premiere with a lush soundscape of never-before-heard songs by Emmy/Grammy/Oscar/Tony-winner Robert Lopez (Frozen, Book of Mormon, Avenue Q).  Order your tickets today!
